Nov 25, 2005 - Malak, the ONE time we've booted anyone out of the MW4 game lobby was. This time I'm installing vengence first, patches, black knight, both meck. If you have MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries (with the PR1 patch) or are planning on getting MW4 Mercs soon, then head on over to MekTek and download their first free expansion pack that features 9 new Mechs, 19 new weapons and 10 new/updated maps. MekTek- MekPak expansion page NetBattleTech Mercenaries- MekPak expansion page (in case the link above doesn't work) Ares- 60 ton Clan (MekTek custom design) Avatar- 70 ton Inner Sphere Blood Asp- 90 ton Clan Marauder- 75 ton Inner Sphere (Unseen) Stalker- 85 ton Inner Sphere Strider- 40 ton Inner Sphere UrbanMech IIC- 30 ton Clan UrbanMech- 30 ton Inner Sphere Warhammer- 70 ton Inner Sphere (Unseen) More MekPaks are in development to be released next year. There will be at least 20 new Mechs added in the first three MekPaks, and potentially an unlimited number of new Mechs might be later added into MW4 Mercenaries. For reference, here's a table of the Mechs available in MW4 Mercs, the Inner Sphere and Clan Mech Paks, and the Mechs that are confirmed to be released by MekTek. UpdatesCache is where it'll download the 44 mb file, it's at the Mercs directory and is deleted afterwards. If you're having that problem, go download the 44 mb file too and place it in that folder. When the Switcher Installer tries to download, it'll see that it's already there and proceed.
I just gotta say that I am so flipping in love with Mek Tek's Marauder. The Sight of Two PPC+Capacitors Ripping Apart A Clan 'Mech As You Send Streams of HVAC Rounds Into its Burnt Carapace. And the Avatar is just plain puddin on the love cake.
Now, do those PPC's and HVAC actually deal damage, or are they as useless as any of the other weapons in MW4? But then, my views on drekborrior 4 are well known. /edit/ you should have seen this before I edited it down. Have to remember to keep the flames to a minimum.

/edit/ you should have seen this before I edited it down. Have to remember to keep the flames to a minimum. Well, I killed a mix teching Daishi (which revealed that he was a mix techer, you get a message now, thanks MT!) with it with several direct CT shots. The NDB (no damage bug) is mostly gone, but it's still there at times. I won't mention how some league players somehow survive 5 direct artillery strikes when a fully armoured version say during testing dies at the 3rd one.

But other than that it's fine. I've ditched the HVAC10 for now and went back to RAC2s. 2 PPC CAPs and 2 RAC2s just screams to me.
Oh yeah, it runs hot and slow but they can't rightly return fire while your digging more holes with your RACS into the huge holes you carved from your PPCs. Tried the Avatar as well, 2 MRM20s and 1 MRM40. Yeah, the new 'lock on' feature of the MRMs is somewhat troubling, but there's hardly any lockon time with a BAP and damn does it deal a lot of damage! The new Avatar looks better than the MW3 one, that one had no flavour really.
The only limit to this one is that it was done for MW4's engine. Just a question, but why do you think the weapons are useless? No insta-kills with GRs and CERPPCs? Yeah it feels more arcadish, I would have loved something more akin to MW3, but who wants to wait 15 minutes to get into a game (no respawn) and die because of one gauss rifle hit? Or a UAC20 (fear the HVAC20! Hunchies just love that gun) or any other near-one-shot kill guns.
There's something missing from the 'Mechs in the pak though. The MS ones had a feel to them, I thought it was just me being rusty and all, but going back and forth between a Dragon, Wolfhound, Avatar, Whammy, etc, there's some difference in the way they handle. And no I don't mean the actual differences of turn radiuses, etc. Could be something hardcoded.

Just an update, currently the second MekPak is well underway. It looks like there could be up to 12 new Mechs in this one along with around 10 new weapons. Also there is a good chance for more original custom Mechs from the MekTek team being included. Updated list here. The Mechs with asterisks have at some point been shown as being modelled or are planned, but since there is somewhat of an information blackout on the details of the second Pak to keep the wild speculations down this time around, noone outside the beta testers and devs knows for sure what will be included until the Pak is released.
Also the second Pak will try to test if the 64 Mech limit can be broken. If so it seems to be the case that at least 128 Mechs could be available in Mercs in total, if MekTek continues to make expansions for that long.
How to use the trainer: In very simple terms, download the trainer, use WinRAR to open the file, extract the.exe file (which is the trainer of course). Start the game, then press ALT + Tab on your keyboard to minimize the game window, now go to where you extracted the trainer exe, double click it, when the trainer starts you will be presented with the options such as unlimited ammo, god mode, no reload etc. Each one of these options will have a 'Hotkey' associated with it, this HotKey or keyboard key is the keyboard key you must press when in game to activate and use this particular option, so click back into the game by clicking on the game tab in the task bar, when back in the game press the Hotkey to activate one of the options. Always read the.nfo / readme that comes with a trainer (or by clicking the Info button when you run the trainer) to check if there any special instructions. Common problems when using a trainer: - False virus/trojan alerts: It rarely happens, but if your Antivirus program gives a warning, it is a FALSE POSITIVE! The file is NOT a virus or trojan, because of the way a trainer operates, by running in the games memory and the trainer using hotkeys often a virus scanner detects this as suspicious activity and flags it as a virus or trojan that will harm your PC. It is harmless!
E-mailing me and abusing me that files on the site are viruses/trojans is wasting both your time and my time, why would I upload viruses and trojans when these same files reside on my own computer, this would be a bit risky for me wouldn't you think? If your virus scanner gives a warning for a trainer and your still not sure, don't use the trainer, using any of the files from GamePatchPlanet is done so at your own risk as stated in the. Compatibility problems: Trainers that were made for older games that ran under Windows 95/Windows 98/Windows 2000 etc. Will often not run when your using a newer version of Windows OS. To fix this, right click the trainer.exe and choose Properties, then change the compatibility mode. Some trainers only work when you are running Windows as admin. Game & Trainer versions: When looking for a trainer please take note that the trainer version must match your game version, patch updates will alter memory addresses and will make a trainer redundant for that version more often than not.
Usually when someone complains a trainer is not working for them 99% of the time it is as simple as the trainer version being different to their game version. Trainer options confusion: Some people often say that they count the trainer as having 8 options but it is only listed as a +6 trainer on the site or by the author, the reason for this is quite simple and also a scene standard for some time, having an option that simply turns off or returns a value to normal is not included, the same applies for a teleportation system, e.g. Save Position, Teleport, Undo Teleport, because they are the same option they are only listed as 1 option. Long ago however every single option was included, even if it was a turn on/turn off option, that's why you will see trainers for some older games being listed with more options. Additional trainer information: When game trainers first started appearing they consisted of only a few Bytes of data, this gradually grew to a few KB and then a few hundred KB as the trainer GUI became more visually appealing and trainer makers incorporated images into the trainers GUI. However, in recent years game trainer sizes have increased into several MB of size and people are not often sure why such a small program is in the several MB of size, naturally people are suspicious of its contents believing something nasty is packed in there (which can happen if you download from a non-reputable site) the reason they are larger in size is because people began stealing other peoples trainer contents and repacking it as their own, so trainer makers started using DRM to protect their work and prevent trainer theft.
